Parkway Theatre Mural

This is a class blog that show the progression of a mural project between the Parkway Theatre in South Minneapolis and students of the Minneapolis College of Art and Design. So far we are in our begining stages of desgin and have just had our first meeting with the owner. We were asked to create 4 large scale murals inside the movie theater. Suggestions the owner Joe had were to keep in mind the architecture of the theartre that sets itself in the Art Deco realm. Joe also wishes to incorporate his mexican culture not in a stereotypical way and not in association to the resturaunt he owns next door. All in all, this will be a very dynamic collaborative project between students and the community and we couldn't be more excited about this experience and the challenges it will bring!
